Toucheng Leisure Farm Achieves a New Sustainable Agriculture Milestone with Global Honors

Toucheng Leisure Farm in Yilan has held sustainable tourism certification since 2019 and has continued to advance circular agriculture. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the entire team, in 2022 the Farm won the “Best Innovation Award (Eco-tour Itinerary)” from the Asia Ecotourism Network, as well as the National Champion at the Green Dining Guide Annual Awards in 2023. In addition, ITB Berlin 2024, Toucheng Leisure Farm’s Green Kitchen business model ranked second globally in the Business category among the world’s top 100 green tourism destinations, reaffirming its outstanding strength in sustainable tourism. In June 2024, the Farm also obtained regenagri certification certified by CU (Control Union), further cementing its role as a model for ecological agriculture both at home and abroad.

On 26 October,2024, Toucheng Leisure Farm hosted a “Friendly Agriculture Showcase.” Founder Cho-Chen, ming noted that the Farm’s achievements have been made possible by the support of many experts and scholars. Among them, Dr. Li Jun-wei, Associate Researcher at the Taipei Botanical Garden, Taiwan Forestry Research Institute, leads the Ark Greenhouse Project and introduced a living wall with an automated drop-irrigation system to demonstrate local native species conservation. This technology opens new opportunities for environmental sustainability at Toucheng Leisure Farm while strengthening its ecological conservation and education functions.

Dr. Wu Chia-hsiung has helped the Farm restore firefly populations by repurposing spent mushroom cultivation bags, enriching nighttime ecological observation and attracting more ecotourism enthusiasts, thereby driving the development of local tourism resources. Dr. Lin Wan-man designed an innovative “Urban Vermi-Farming” system that uses worm bins to build a self-sustaining biodynamic cycle, supplying the Farm with a steady stream of microbe-rich organic soil, improving soil health and advancing the Farm’s sustainable development

Looking ahead, Toucheng Leisure Farm will continue to deepen circular agriculture and collaborate with partners across sectors to promote the ideals of sustainability. The Farm welcomes visits from universities and enterprises to jointly advance friendly agriculture, work toward a more sustainable future, and create greater value for the community.
